Global Event
Have you ever taken part in some sort of global activity? For example….. World Spelling Day, World Maths Day, Water Day, or Earth Hour. These are events that have gone or are global. Days like Earth Hour and World Water Day help save energy and water, but in the end it all helps save the earth. During Earth Hour you spend an hour without electricity to show it’s possible to use less energy. This year it was on March 26th but it fell on spring break which is why I totally forgot about it. I really wish I could have participated. It would have been fun and it would have helped the planet. Ten things you can turn off during Earth Hour are…
- T.V.
- Computer
- Lights
- Stove
- Clock
- Microwave
- Coffee machine
- Blender
- Toaster
- Electronics
Now that you know what you can turn off here are eleven things YOU can do when the lights are off:
- Play Checkers
- Read a book
- Clean your room
- Clean the house
- Play with siblings
- Play tag
- Invite your friend over
- Play Sorry
- Write a story
- Play hide and seek
- Sing
What I’ve done in the past during Earth Hour is slide down the stairs in a sleeping bag. (If you want to try this make sure you ask a parent.) What I would do is stuff the sleeping bag with pillows and pull the bag to the top of the stairs climb in and when my friends said GO, down I went. We also had pillows at the bottom of the stairs to break our fall. After we all got a turn we started to go in pairs and that was even more fun.

I had not participated in earth hour and this year i was going to do it bu sadly I fell asleep!!!! the sleeping bag idea sounds great fun!!!!!!!!

I have participated in them all so far this year(:
To save energy, money and the planet myself and my family usually have all of the lights off and have some candles lit and we sit down in the darkness and watch tv. It’s great how you have listed some fun actuvities to do while the power is out. When I did Earth hour with my family myself and my brother played hide and seek in the darkness just to make it harder to find each other. was it fun sliding down the stairs in a sleeping bag? i don’t have stairs in my house, but I slide down my friends on my bum, lol. Your blog gas come together really nicley. I would love to keep in contact with you.
