Electricity Strikes Back

Do you like horror? Have you ever heard of Electricity striking back? Well these four girls soon find out it does. (When you watch the video wait till after the credits. There is a little surprise!) Enjoy! I know I did. :)

Chastity, Allie, Jenny and I made this movie for Earth Day. We think people use to much electricity and if we continue to use it carelessly it will come back to get us. Our message was……  Save Electricity. Save the Earth. We hope you take this seriously and when you leave a room turn off the lights. Or when your in a room only use what you need to use. Thank You! :)

CANUCKS RIOT1VANCOUVER RIOT 2THE GOOD SIDE OF THINGS

Boston shoots they score! Boston Shoots they score! Boston shoots they score! Boston shoots the score! As I’m sitting there in my living room my heart stops as Boston wins the cup. Vancouver was so close, they had a great game but in the end Tim Tomas was a brick wall. If you didn’t understand all that, I’m a Canucks fan and I’m a real fan who’s says if they lose a game… “it’s OK there’s always next year.”  Which brings up THE CANUCKS RIOT.  As people might say the fans of the Canucks are….. stupid, morons, idiots. What I have to say they weren’t fans who did all the damage. Fans would cheer for Boston because they were the better team. Canucks always have next year and for the fans inside of Roger Arena they were the real fans. They gave standing ovations for for the Boston Bruins,Vancouver Canucks, Luongo, and Tim Tomas. So it wasn’t all bad that’s what I want people to remember… the real fans cheered but for the riot side of things it didn’t go so well.

WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE

Let me tell you it was a scary site to be looking at my TV screen and seeing what I was seeing because I was in Vancouver a few days ago. Now as I’m watching the news my breath is stolen from my lungs. As I’m thinking how can a city, MY city be doing something like…. flipping cars and starting them on fire, dancing around the fire, attacking police and beating up people. There were thousands upon thousands of people, most of them drunk. At the second period all parents got told if they had kids to leave the Vancouver downtown area or at least go home.

HOSPITAL

You can’t believe everything you hear. Some people might say… It was the gangs who started the riot, it was the fans, or it might even have been planned but the truth is we may never know how it all started, but there was a lot of drinking involved. 140 people checked into emergency rooms that night and 4 still remain. The four that remain were seriously injured… 2 being stabbed, 1 head injury, and one concussion. The rest were mostly from fist fights.

CLEAN UP

As I was saying you can tell who  the real fans are, they came and offered to help clean up the next morning because let me tell you there are days and days and days of clean up. These are the real Canuck fans. This is who we are.

I do not … I repeat DO NOT want you to look at only the bad things. Although Vancouver played a great game, in the end they just couldn’t get it together. I’m going to say I’m  proud to live here because people came down and HELPED clean up. There were good moments and bad moments. The Canucks played a great game. It’s just too bad it had to end this way.

They help you and/or people find their way around a blog. Having said that some of my categories are…… food, work, and pets. Now let’s say I wrote a post about ……..FOOD! Here it goes.

FOOD

Food is yummy.

Food is good.

Food is what you need to live.

So say that was my post I would click the food category. Then for the tags I would write five key words such as…….. food, yummy, good, live, and need!  By doing all of this it will help other people find their way around your blog. It will even help you find your way around your blog.

Have you ever used categories or tags?

Plastic Water

Plastic Water

Have you ever thought of where your litter ends up? Well that’s an easy answer … in the ocean and when the plastic doesn’t fully break down fish mistake litter for food. Then they die. We also may catch some of these fish that ate plastic and get sick ourselves. The reason I chose to make a cartoon about this was because it scared me. This makes me want it to STOP. Did you know that there is a garbage patch in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and if we don’t do anything about it they’re estimating one day we might be able to walk from Canada to China on it! We need to smarten up!

Global Event

Filed under: Assigned Work,Blogging Challenge 2011 — Kyra at 9:22 am on Monday, April 4, 2011  Tagged , , , ,

123456789999999Have you ever taken part in some sort of global activity? For example….. World Spelling Day, World Maths Day, Water Day, or Earth Hour. These are events that have gone or are global. Days like Earth Hour and World Water Day help save energy and water, but in the end it all helps save the earth. During Earth Hour you spend an hour without electricity to show it’s possible to use less energy. This year it was on March 26th but it fell on spring break which is why I totally forgot about it. I really wish I could have participated. It would have been fun and it would have helped the planet. Ten things you can turn off during Earth Hour are…

  1. T.V.
  2. Computer
  3. Lights
  4. Stove
  5. Clock
  6. Microwave
  7. Coffee machine
  8. Blender
  9. Toaster
  10. Electronics

Now that you know what you can turn off here are eleven things YOU can do when the lights are off:

  1. Play Checkers
  2. Read a book
  3. Clean your room
  4. Clean the house
  5. Play with siblings
  6. Play tag
  7. Invite your friend over
  8. Play Sorry
  9. Write a story
  10. Play hide and seek
  11. Sing

What I’ve done in the past during Earth Hour is slide down the stairs in a sleeping bag. (If you want to try this make sure you ask a parent.) What I would do is stuff the sleeping bag with pillows and pull the bag to the top of the stairs climb in and when my friends said GO, down I went. We also had pillows at the bottom of the stairs to break our fall. After we all got a turn we started to go in pairs and that was even more fun.

Have you ever participated in Earth Hour? If you have what did you do? Do you think you will participate next year?

blogging challengs 2 facebook 2222Do you know what a digital footprint is? It’s like a chain of your life that links you to all your activities online. It starts before you’re born and continues after you die. A digital footprint includes records of  what happens to you, where you go and what you do! This is all on the computer. It’s a digital footprint of your life.

I looked up my name in Google and was surprised to find out that my Facebook address came up.  Luckily I have it blocked, but people still know I have it. This prooves that a digital footprint is everywhere and anywhere you go it gets cached on computer servers all over the world. Not only have I regirstered for Facebook but I have bought things from e-Bay and the Apple store. For the Apple store I had to give them my address so that they could deliver my Ipod. This all gets saved but I have no idea where. As I get older my digital footprint will continue to grow.

Now nowing  my digital footprint I will be careful not to make it bigger and if I do make sure I stay safe.
